About Naib Subedar Sanjay Kumar:
Param Vir Chakra, Naib Subedar Sanjay Kumar, was born in a small village in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh. During Kargil War of 1999, he was with 13th Battalion, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, tasked to capturing Area Flat Top. He was the leading scout man.
The area was held by Pakistani troops. Having scaled the cliff, the team was pinned down by machine gun fire from an enemy bunker, about 150 meters away. Kumar realizing the gravity of the situation crawled alone up the ledge and charged towards the enemy bunker through a hail of automatic fire.
In the ensuing hand-tohand combat, he killed three of the intruders and was himself seriously injured. He then picked up an enemy machine gun and crept towards the second enemy bunker.
The enemy soldiers, taken completely by surprise, were killed by him as they fled their post. Inspired by his act the rest of the platoon charged, assaulted the feature and captured Area Flat Top.
Rifleman Sanjay Kumar picked up the UMG and killed the fleeing enemy. Although bleeding profusely, he refused to be evacuated. The brave action on his part motivated his comrades and they took no notice of the treacherous terrain and charged onto the enemy and wrested the Area Flat Top from the hands of the enemy.

If I get an opportunity to live the life of Rifleman Sanjay Kumar (Gallantry Award Winner), I would like to do the following things:
The safety, honor and welfare of our country come first always and every time. If I were Rifleman Sanjay Kumar, I would serve my country with heart, body, mind and soul. I would undergo special training to be invincible.
I would try to master the latest and most advanced combat skills.I would join the Special Forces team. I would have all the high-tech weapons, ammunition, surveillance, and reconnaissance equipment; and I would request my officers to post me at the most critical places where terrorists carry out their nefarious secret deeds.
I along with the team of my special commando soldiers would hunt them all down and bring them to justice.
I along with my fellow soldiers would create such an impregnable wall of security along the borders of hostile neighboring countries, that none of them dared to cross the border.
I would always keep myself fit through rigorous physical, mental, and weapon-wielding skills.
I would ensure that my country's people lived in perfect safety. During emergencies, I would volunteer in rescue operations such as floods, quakes, etc.
I would also go to schools and start a special training program for school children to join them in the nation's safety and security programs.
I would invite schoolchildren to military training academies and integrate military training with school education programs.
Conclusion :
Param Vir Chakra and Rifleman Sanjay Kumar inspired me a lot. Just like him I want to serve my Motherland India selflessly and courageously. If I would get an opportunity I would definitely live his life.
